Overview
The Skilled Independent (189) and Skilled Nominated (190) visas let skilled workers live and work permanently in Australia. You first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through SkillSelect and can only apply once invited.
Subclass 189 does not need a sponsor. Subclass 190 needs a state or territory to nominate you, which adds points to your score. We help you check your occupation, points and skills assessment before you start.
Who can apply
The main requirements. A counsellor will check your situation in detail.
- An occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list
- A suitable skills assessment for that occupation
- At least 65 points on the points test
- Under 45 years old when invited to apply
- An invitation to apply (and state or territory nomination for 190)
- Meet English, health and character requirements
